Long Lake Motorcycle Trail
A 27-mile ORV trail for motorcycles only. Mostly sandy with rolling hills. Generally wooded, this trail winds over terrain with plenty of short climbs. ORV license and trail permit required!
Hike the Fife Lake Loop
Along this 21 mile loop trail, hikers can enjoy the scenic views, serenity of the forest, streams and the Manistee River. They can take advantage of the two state forest campgrounds in the loop and the Trail Town of Fife Lake Village. It is a perfect sized loop for a weekend get-a-way for backpackers or there are numerous options for different length day hikes.
Shore to Shore Horseback Trail
Also known as the Michigan Riding and Hiking Trail, this is a 220-mile-long (350 km) trail that runs all across the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan. It is open to horseback riders and hikers but not bicycles. Public campgrounds are located throughout the route.
Fife Lake Historic Walk
27 display plaques throughout the town depict businesses, homes, and historic sites as they were during the late 19th century and the early 20th century. Take time to examine the wonderful authentic nature of Fife Lake.

Sledding in Mancel-SNOW-na
In winter, thousands of snowmobilers travel the trails in and around Mancelona, Pinney Bridge, Jordan River Valley, Lakes of the North and Starvation Lake where we have some of the most beautiful, well groomed trails.
Fun in Jordan Valley
Mother Nature fit a whole lot of beauty here! Several dirt roads wind through the Jordan River Valley, running parallel with the River to Pinney Bridge. Seasonal activities include: fishing, berry picking & morel mushrooming. Be sure to stop at the Fish Hatchery and Deadman’s Hill!
Hit the Beach at Wetzel Lake
Wetzel Lake is a day park offering visitors serene surroundings, picnic spots and swimming – popular with the locals! Non-motorized boats only are allowed.
Swimming & Snowshoeing in Walloon Lake
Melrose Township Park offers 22 acres of recreational opportunities. A charming beach sits on the eastern shore of Walloon Lake allowing for beautiful sunset views. The park includes a river walk, nature trails, pickleball, basketball & volleyball courts as well as a playground. The Bear River meanders through the park and plays host to fly fisherman and kids alike.
Crystal Clear Blue Waters
The Walloon Yacht Club can be seen racing their 17s every Saturday, Sunday & Tuesday from June through August!
Birding in the Preserves
Walloon has several preserves providing edge habitat to dozens of bird species that are accessible to visitors. Conveniently, they can be most easily spotted in or around the parking areas! Learn about them here.

Pedal the Little Traverse Wheelway
